About Cara Lott
Lott grew up in Huntington Beach, California, in a middle-class Catholic family, and spent much of her childhood in the water: surfing, open-water swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, hiking and camping stayed with her for life. Her adult career began almost by accident at 18, when she asked a friend to photograph her in lingerie on the family piano and sent the Polaroid to Hustler’s reader section, mostly to put a little money toward college.
Hustler called her in, and by December 1981 she was the magazine’s centerfold and cover subject. Film work followed within months, along with a decade of features, feature dancing across the United States, Canada and Japan, and a small part in Brian De Palma’s Body Double (1984). She stepped away in 1991 to finish a Health Sciences qualification, returned for six more films in 1997 and 1998, and came back once more in 2005 as a self-described “40+ model”. The AVN Hall of Fame inducted her in 2006.
Career in brief
Her film years ran in three phases: the golden era of the 1980s, a short return in the late 1990s, and the mature-genre comeback of 2005 to 2009.
Between them she toured as a feature dancer, took a small mainstream role in Body Double, and completed a Health Sciences qualification. Her final credits came in 2009.
