Frequently asked questions
The questions readers ask most, answered from the record.
Who was Cara Lott?
Cara Lott was an American adult film performer and model from Huntington Beach, California. She worked on and off between 1981 and 2009, was a constant presence in the 1980s videotape era, and returned twice later in her career. She died in 2018 at the age of 56.
How did her career begin?
At 18 she sent a lingerie Polaroid of herself to Hustler’s reader section, mainly to earn money for college. The magazine called her in, and the December 1981 issue ran her as centerfold and cover subject; film work followed within months.
What was she best known for on screen?
Her 1980s features, among them Taboo II (1982), Satisfactions (1982/83), Frisky Business (1984) and Trashy Lady (1985), and from her comeback Vivid’s Flasher (2006), which brought her a 2008 AVN Awards nomination.
Was she in any mainstream films?
Yes. She played “Girl in Bathroom #2” in Brian De Palma’s Body Double (1984), credited as Pamela Weston, and her own biography also lists 52 Pick-Up (1986) and some R-rated Japanese productions.
What honours did she receive?
She was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame, Video Branch, in 2006, and into the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame the same year. In 2008 she was an AVN Awards nominee for Best Oral Sex Scene. No competitive award wins are documented.
How many films was she in?
Sources disagree, and each figure belongs to its source: IAFD indexes 339 credits, IMDb lists 153 acting credits, AVN’s 2018 obituary says more than 180 videos, and her own site claimed roughly 300.
What names did she work under?
She also worked as Cara Davis and used the name Pamela Weston for her mainstream appearance. Databases list a few further aliases, but only these two are confirmed across multiple sources.
When did she die?
Cara Lott died on March 19, 2018, in Orange County, California, at the age of 56. AVN published an obituary the following day, and there was no public memorial service.
